Voting by mail in Pennsylvania is open to every registered voter — you do not need an excuse. This takes about five minutes.
Step 1 of 3
First, one quick question
Voting by mail in Pennsylvania: the basics
- Who can vote by mail
- Any registered Pennsylvania voter. You do not need a reason. Not sure you’re registered?
- What you need
- Your PA driver’s license or PennDOT ID number if you have one. If not, the last four digits of your Social Security number — online, you’ll also upload a picture of your signature. Prefer paper? Call (267) 209-3397 and we will mail you an application.
- The deadlines
- Apply by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27. Your completed ballot must reach your county by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3 — a postmark does not count.
- After you apply
- Your county checks your application and mails your ballot once the ballots for this election are ready — that can be a few weeks after you apply. When it arrives, follow the mail ballot checklist so it is not rejected, then track your ballot.
Changed your mind? If you haven’t sent your ballot back, you can still vote in person — bring the ballot and its outer return envelope to your polling place.
